Native to Europe and Asia and has naturalized all over North America. A tall herbaceous perennial to 6 feet. The leaves are quite large with very pointed margins and a white understory with tiny hairs. The small silvery-white abundant flowers fill the tops of its many stems. An excellent food source for many types of butterflies. This famous medicinal is used worldwide. The leaves and buds are used for flavouring meat and beer. The best time to harvest is just before flowering. Historically, this is a classic metaphysical herb, used for centuries as a dream herb and is still used in dream pillows. Famed as the traveller's herb for protection and placed in shoes. Medicinally it is very helpful for insomnia, to calm the nervous system, a digestive aid and can kill intestinal worms. Plant this tiny seed in flats in early spring and place in a cool place for 2 weeks before moving to a warm location. Make sure the soil is moist first and lightly press the seeds into the surface. This is a light-dependent germinator so do not cover. Prefers sunny and drier conditions.
