Inula helenium - This tall and stately medicinal has a base of large soft green leaves that supports 4-5 foot stems of abundant bright yellow daisy style flowers. Used as a hedge or in a perennial border, the flowers stay beautiful for weeks. Drought tolerant once established. The medicinal roots are used in cough preparations, as an immune system stimulator, and for stomach upset. Start seed indoors in mid-spring, lightly covering them for best results.
