This famous heirloom was grown at the Vilmorin Gardens in France during the late 1800's. Very cold hardy, can direct sow in very early spring or in fall, will bolt to seed in the heat. The leaves are 3 inches long, with a rich green colour, and stunning deep purple veins and the characteristic rounded oak leaf shape. This arugula is hot but never bitter, the young leaves are milder. We use this variety to spicy up our salad mix and the white flowers are a great salad addition.
