Maxima family.

This original Hubbard was sourced from the Abundant Life Seed Foundation.  Located in Port Townsend WA, it was famous for protecting endangered species.  Unfortunately, a fire destroyed the facility in the 1990's. Our local permaculture expert, Brandon Bauer, was fortunate to procure this seed before the fire. He has painstakingly maintained it ever since. He asked us to share this seed through our seed bank by providing a packet of 18 seeds. This is enough to start a whole flat of 3-inch pots! These long productive vines produce large beautiful blue-skinned fruit. The golden flesh has a rich flavour and is perfect for baking. Once properly cured for a few weeks, it is excellent in storage for months.

Start your seeds one month early in small pots in a warm location.  Sow no deeper than 1/2 inch. Transplant to the garden once true leaves have appeared into warm soil, above 10C at night. Squash thrives in full sun and loves rich compost. Use mulch to maintain soil moisture,  slow weeds and keep your fruit clean.
