Gorgeous, easy to grow, pollinator heaven!

Medium to large-sized sprawling plants explode magenta-pink flowers for two months. Striking red stalks and heart-shaped leaves. Neighborhood bees will fall in love and you'll be delighted watching the diversity of visitors. Allow to mature seed and it may reseed and come up next year.

Growing: Direct seed around 1/2" deep, spaced 6-12" apart.May be planted in rows or blocks, or simply broadcast on a prepared area and raked in. Germination takes 3-5 days. Start from late spring to early summer. Prefers lighter (sandier) soils, consistent moisture, and medium fertility. Avoid waterlogged soils and heavy clay. Plants can get large and gangly, so leave room between them and other crops. Flowering begins after 4-6 weeks of growth, and continues for two months depending on conditions. May reseed if allowed to mature seed.

Dry growing (growing without watering or minimal watering): Buckwheat prefers a good amount of moisture. Where irrigation is limited, choose a planting spot with fertile soil and some afternoon shade to help it get through the hottest part of the day. May wilt in afternoon heat but recovers once it cools down.
