For many years now, we have been supplying seeds to Outrageous Enterprises for their heirloom tomato plant program. Over 30 varieties will be for sale in many locations all over Vancouver Island this Spring. They will also be available locally at our farm.
Originally started by John Taylor, who saw the future return to heirloom tomato plants with his first order of a few thousand seeds, it has now grown to 50,000 under the guidance of the current owner, Jesse Jacobs. I first met Jesse as a young man, when John brought him to sample tomatoes at our farm.
Upon retiring, John passed on his much loved operation into very capable hands. Jesse has continued the practice of using no pesticides and herbicides in his greenhouse operation. The quality of these starter plants is unsurpassed in the industry.
Watch for our posting of available varieties for sale this Spring. There will also be a good selection of heirloom peppers and eggplants. It has been truly gratifying to us, that these cultivars, many of them endangered, have now become household names in local gardens. Our thanks to John and Jesse for supporting this resurgence and return to heirloom tomatoes.
